A lawsuit over a provision in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) was back in federal court at 10am on February 6, 2013, awaiting decision on an injunction prohibiting indefinite detention of civilians without charge or trial. A group of academics, journalists, and activists filed suit last year over § 1021(b)(2) of the NDAA alleging that the provision suspended due process rights and threatened first amendment protections.

This video contains highlights of the press conference by plaintiffs, lawyers, amici, and supporters outside the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals on February 6th, shortly after court adjourned. The quote in today's Chicago Tribune regarding the Chicago Bears hire of Marc Trestman as the franchise's 14th head coach.

Wouldn't it be nice if they just taught you in 4th grade that, unless you're born into the business and your folks held an upper-level position in the business, you could expect to work your whole life trying to get into the business with no real chance of ever making it. But no, the masters of society prefer to preserve the illusion of opportunity.

It took Marc Trestman 32 years of coaching to get his first head coaching opportunity in the NFL.  Good for him.  I will be pulling for him.
